Hummingbirds do NOT use nest boxes or bird houses!
It is that time of the year again where we are frequently asked for hummingbird houses. Especially those cute little wooden houses shown online with hummingbirds fluttering nearby.
***Please be aware that those are strictly decorative. Hummingbirds do not nest in cavities and do not use houses or nest boxes.***
The grass roosting pockets (Top, middle picture), may be used by small songbirds for shelter, but not hummingbirds.
